Browar Stu Mostów wins three awards

We are happy to inform that Browar Stu Mostów has been awarded three prizes at the second edition of the Good Beer Academy contest organized by the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław . Three statues were awarded to all three of our brands for the three selected beers; SALAMANDER Grapefruit and Mandarin DDH DIPA – gold, ART#8 – bronze, WRCLW Pils – bronze. The Good Beer Academy promotes high standards and latest trends in the brewing industry.

All employees of the production department at Browar Stu Mostów have been graduates of the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław: Michał Żankowski, Brewer [graduate of the Nutrition Department], Wojciech Tkaczuk, Brewer – [graduate of the Brewing Technology Department]; Mateusz Gulej – the Main Brewer [graduate of the Nutrition Department]; Paula Prorok – Quality Standards Specialist [graduate of the Nutrition Department]; Katarzyna Chlebus – Event Manager [graduate of the Nutrition Department; Filip Dąbrowski – Brewer [graduate of the Nutrition Department]; Grzegorz Lisiak – Beer Manager [graduate of the Nutrition Department; Jakub Borowski – Sales Director [graduate of the Nutrition Department] and Marta Antos – Bottling Manager [graduate of the Brewing Technology Department].It’s no coincidence as the Nutrition Department, University of Life Sciences in Wrocław, has been named the best in Poland in the prestigious “Perspektywy” ranking (the mayor has been awarded 100% points). The University also offers first in Poland postgraduate program for brewers.

The gala of the 2 nd edition of the Academy during which the awards were presented to the winners took place at the Educational and Development Centre, Pałac Wrocław Pawłowice. The event brought together specialists, experts and enthusiasts of economy and science. Professor Jan Miodek participated as a special guest.

Over 80 beers have been selected for this year’s edition of the contest. The jury was chaired by Rafał Kowalczyk, an expert in sensory evaluation of beer and an experienced juror in international competitions such as the World Beer Cup in the USA, the Great American Beer Festival in the USA, the International Beer Cup in Japan or the Brussels Beer Challenge in Belgium. As a co-organizer and the head of the GoodBeer (the former Golden Beer Poland) competition, Rafał Kowalczyk has selected the best beers with Maja Drab, Krzysztof Lechowski from the Polish Association of Homebrewers, Sebastian Baranowski, Mateusz Gulej and Rajmund Komosiński, the head of the PAHB.

The awards were received by Filip Dąbrowski, a recent graduate of the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław, who had an internship with Browar Stu Mostów as a student only to start working as the brewer’s assistant. Now Filip holds a degree and a full-time job as a brewer. “This job involves passion, creativity and responsibility. It is not a 9 to 5 job as beer ferments 24 hours,” said Filip.
